Iceland will see their entrant performing live in London at the UKeurovision Preview Party for the second year in a row. Last year, Euroband stopped off in London and raised the roof at Scala with a huge performance of their entry. This year, Yohanna is heading to London to provide more of the same with her fantastic ballad, ‘Is it true?’.
Born in Denmark, Yohanna moved to Iceland at the age of two where she grew up to be a hugely talented performer. Everyone was amazed not only by her perfect pitch, range, and maturity, but also by the control she displayed when performing. Besides this she showed an innate ability to quickly memorise, learn and adapt songs to suit her own individual vocal style.
Yohanna recorded her first album at the age of nine, and it was released on her tenth birthday in the year 2000. The debut album was a huge success and was followed up by a second album in 2001, confirming her status as a true child prodigy. Her third album, consisting of popular Christmas Carols, was released in late 2003. This proved to be her last album for a number of years as it was a joint decision between her manager and parents to give Yohanna some space to grow up and work on her musical skills away from the spotlight.
Now a true star in Iceland, Yohanna is taking her talents to the European stage where she will be hoping to take Iceland to the Eurovision Song Contest final for a second year running, and maybe even a first victory at the competition. Will the UK vote for Iceland again this year? Get down to the UKeurovision Preview Party and see whether you’ll be voting for Yohanna.
