Euroband was born in March 2006 by Fridrik Omar and Regina Osk, both former solo participants in the Icelandic National Song Contest. Regina was second in the 2006 Icelandic final ahead of Fridrik in third place. A year later, they returned as soloists, and Fridrik took second place. This time around, the combined power of the duo’s vocals took them passed the finish line in first place, and together, they will represent their country at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade with “This is my life” an up-tempo dance track that is already a huge hit with Eurovision fans.
The band have performed across Iceland and Northern Europe with their special Eurovision Act, performing Icelandic past entries and all time great Eurovision numbers in clubs and theatres. Now that they have the chance to walk out on the biggest stage of all, with 100million people watching, as they perform their own Eurovision entry.
They took a late diversion in their promotion tour plans to come to London to meet the British fans, stopping into London en route home to Iceland after a performance in Denmark.
Fridrik told us: “British Eurovision fans are some of the best in the world, they’re great fun and the chance to perform and party with them in London is a chance we just couldn’t miss out on. See you all in London”.
